Our Purpose

To create a space that supports area youth, families, adults, and seniors. The services and programs offered will focus on preserving and enhancing our way of life, including recreation, health and fitness, education, and vital community services.

Why a charitable organization make sense for this project.

A 501c3 is an IRS-designated tax-exempt charitable organization. The Petersburg Community Foundation is a newly formed 501c3 organization whose charitable purpose is to support the health of the Petersburg community through education, wellness, and quality of life services.

This designation allows the organization to raise funds to support its purpose - through donations that are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. That means your donation can go even further, positively impacting this project and your tax burden. By utilizing this organization, we can create a solution that is self-sustaining, which will prevent the former school building from becoming a burden to local tax payers.

Furthermore, a 501c3 is led by a board of directors. These volunteers serve as the voice of the people. Decisions are made by this team, working together for the common good - keeping their focus on what's best for Petersburg. As a community-driven non-profit, the Petersburg Community Foundation will enhance quality of life for individuals of any age, from senior residents to our youngest citizens.

Ultimately, there's a reason Petersburg refers to itself as a "family-friendly community" and the Petersburg Community Foundation is dedicated to upholding this promise for generations to come.
